SOURCES: Pete Golding Leaving Alabama for Defensive Coordinator Position at Ole Miss
Oxford, Miss. – In a move that has been rumored for some time now, sources say Alabama defensive coordinator Pete Golding is reportedly leaving the Crimson Tide to take the same position on Lane Kiffin’s staff at Ole Miss. The move was first reported by Chris Low of ESPN.
Pete Golding is leaving @AlabamaFTBL to replace Chris Partridge as defensive coordinator at @OleMissFB, sources tell ESPN. Golding has been with Nick Saban at Alabama since 2018, the last four seasons as defensive coordinator.

The 38-year-old assistant coach has ties to Mississippi in his past, previously coaching at D-II Delta State in Cleveland, Mississippi. After a stint at Southeastern Louisiana, he returned to Mississippi, joining the staff at Southern Miss. He then left for the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), where the Roadrunners finished 5th in total defense before Nick Saban hired him away.
Golding has been on Nick Saban’s staff since 2018. In that time, Alabama has been to three national championship games, winning one of those games. There is no word yet on who will replace Golding at Alabama.
Our sources indicate current co-defensive coordinators Chris Partridge and Maurice Crum will not be retained on Kiffin’s staff.
The move comes in the midst of recruiting and the transfer portal being in full force. Ole Miss has several needs on the defensive side of the ball, and Golding will likely hit the ground running on the recruiting trail.
Golding is a native of Hammond, La., and he and his wife Carolyn, a native of Cleveland, Miss., have three children: Braxton, Bentley and Bailey. Stay tuned to The Rebel Walk for further updates as they become available.
