A visit with Ole Miss tennis commit, transfer Briana Crowley

OXFORD, Miss. — We recently had a chance to visit with Ole Miss tennis commit Briana Crowley. She is a grad transfer from Northwestern and will be signing with Ole Miss on November 9.

Q & A with Briana Crowley

Ole Miss tennis commit Briana Crowley will sign with the Rebels on November 9.

RW: What made you decide to choose Ole Miss?

Briana: I wanted to come to Ole Miss because of the connection I felt with (head coach) Mark (Beyers) and (associate head coach) Grant Roberts. They’re amazing coaches, and I’m really excited to work with them for a year.

I’m also looking forward to playing tennis in the SEC because it’s arguably the most competitive conference in tennis.  Finally, the academic program was a perfect fit for me!  I’m very excited to pursue my Master’s in Sports Analytics.

RW: How do you think Ole Miss will be different from where you live now?

Briana: I’m currently finishing my senior year at Northwestern University, so Oxford is going to be a lot different.  Going from a big city in the north to a smaller college town in the south, I’m looking forward to experiencing something completely different than what I’m used to – – especially the weather.

RW: Tell us about your family.

Briana: I don’t have any brothers, sisters or pets!  It’s just me!  However, my parents are very excited for me to come to Ole Miss.  My mom visited with me and really enjoyed the environment as much as I did, so I know she’s looking forward to coming to a few matches.

RW: What kind of foods do you prefer?

I strongly dislike American food – and I rarely eat it – but if I had to choose one thing it would probably be a hot dog, but only at a pro baseball game!  I’d never eat one outside of a game!

My favorite food is Italian, but I love Mediterranean, Greek and all Chinese.

RW: Who is YOUR favorite tennis player?

Nadal, because of how competitive he is, and how he has continued to be great for such a long period of time.  He’s also always kind to everyone, and I truly admire that about him.

RW: What’s your favorite color?

My favorite color is light blue, so now I guess I’m saying powder blue from now on!

Patti Parks Rooney

Patti Parks Rooney is just past the age of fifty, hails from the Mississippi Delta and likes, in no particular order: a tin roof, Taylor Swift, George Strait, Lana Del Ray and Miles Davis, Diet Chick-fil-A Lemonade and Coke Zero, writing poetry, gardening, her godchild, shoes, history, Kimi Raikonnen and Formula One racing, art, beaches, really good pinot noir, the number sixteen, Yellowstone, Ozark and Arrested Development, friends that can utilize a grill, trips that require air travel, bond fires in summer or fall, and, of course, The Grove and Ole Miss football.

You will not find a 'Live, Laugh and Love' sign in her home. She says it’s nothing personal. You will, however, find the tv on the SEC channel most all times.

She currently resides in Oxford, is mom to Hollywood, her cat of 15 years, and works in the mental health field.

PS - She understands you can never underestimate the significance of Bill Walsh’s West Coast offense in professional football.
