Notes and Notables from the Rebels’ 59-3 win over Central Arkansas

OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss defeated Central Arkansas, 59-3, Saturday in Vaught-Hemingway to move to 2-0 on the season.

Here are the notes and notables from the win:

STARTERS

• Auburn transfer Ladarius Tennison (S) made his first career start in his second game as a Rebel.
• OL Nick Broeker and OL Jeremy James tallied their team-leading 25th consecutive start for Ole Miss on the offensive line.
• Other notable starting streaks include S Otis Reese (18th), DT KD Hill (12th) and S AJ Finley (11th).

DEBUTS

• A total of nine different Rebels made their Ole Miss debut today vs. UCA: WR Lex Boucvalt, LB Andrew Griffith (first career), DE JJ Hawkins (first career), WR Kyirin Heath (first career), LB Reginald Hughes (first career), LB Danny Lockhart Jr., OL Cedric Nicely (first career), LB Trip White (first career), LB Jaron Willis (first career).

GENERAL NOTES

• Attendance for tonight’s game was 58,373.
• Dating back to Nov. 14, 2020, the Rebels have now won 11 straight home contests … It marks the longest winning streak in Oxford since winning 12 straight games Nov. 5, 1960 to Nov. 7, 1964.
• The 56-point win was the largest margin of victory by a Rebel squad since beat UT Martin by 73 (76-3) in 2015.
• Ole Miss is 156-91-7 (.628 winning pct.) all-time during the month of September after vacated wins.
• Ole Miss is 102-35-3 (.739 winning pct.) in September home games (including contests played in Memphis and Jackson).
• The Rebels are 77-22-2 (.772 winning percentage) in September games played in Oxford after vacated wins.
• Ole Miss is 112-41-6 (.723 winning pct.) all-time versus non-conference opponents during the month.

OFFENSIVE NOTES

• The 28 points in the first quarter tonight were the most points in a quarter since 2018 when the Rebels scored 28 points in the second vs. ULM (Oct. 6, 2018).
• It’s the most points in a quarter to open a game since Ole Miss tallied 28 points in the first quarter vs. Fresno State (Sept. 12, 2015).
• TE Michael Trigg tied a school record with three receiving TDs … He became the 11th Rebel and just the second TE to accomplish the feat.
• Trigg finished with five catches for 28 yards and the three TDs.
• QB Jaxson Dart came in for an injured Luke Altmyer and complete 10-of-15 passes for 182 yards and two touchdowns.
• RB Quinshon Judkins tallied his first 100-yard rushing game of his collegiate career … Judkins rushed for 104 yards on 10 carries.
• WR Jonathan Mingo hauled in three catches for 103 yards … It was Mingo’s third-career 100-yard receiving game.
• QB Luke Altmyer tallied the first rushing TD of his career … Dart finished 6-for-13 through the air for 90 yards and two TDs.
• Two Ole Miss quarterbacks threw for two or more TDs in a game for the first time since 2018.
• RB Zach Evans tallied a team-high 11 carries for 53 yards … He registered his first rushing TD of his Ole Miss career.

DEFENSIVE NOTES

• Ole Miss has held seven straight opponents to 21 or fewer points … It is the longest active streak among Power 5 teams and the longest streak by any Ole Miss team since a streak of seven straight games in 2014.
• The Ole Miss defense forced a season-high four turnovers vs. UCA.
• The Rebels have caused two or more turnovers in both games so far this season.
• Ole Miss held UCA to 4-of-18 on third down attempts.
• S Isheem Young registered an interception in the win … It was his first pick in an Ole Miss uniform.
• S Dashaun Jerkins tallied his first interception as a Rebel … He led Vandy with three INTs last season.
• Four different Rebels finished the contest with five total tackles (Tysheem JohnsonOtis ReeseTroy BrownTywone Malone)

SPECIAL TEAMS NOTES

• S Ladarius Tennison recovered a bad snap on an UCA punt attempt in the first quarter and returned it for his first collegiate score.
• It was the second straight season the Rebels have returned a fumble for a TD.
• The Ole Miss special teams unit blocked a punt for first time since 2017 (UT Martin).
• P Fraser Masin punted three times for an average of 45.7 yards per punt.
• K Jonathan Cruz connected from 41 yards out in the second quarter for his first field goal attempt as a Rebel.
