Lebby had held the offensive coordinator/assistant coach/quarterbacks coach position at Ole Miss since being hired by head coach Lane Kiffin and the Rebels in 2020.
Prior to coming to Ole Miss, Lebby was the offensive coordinator at UCF from 2015-18, and the quarterbacks coach there from 2013-2014.
Lebby is a graduate of Oklahoma and began his coaching career with the program as a student assistant from 2002-07, and Venables was on staff when Lebby began his journey into coaching.
The Rebels’ offense has been one of the SEC and nation’s best since 2020.
In 2021, Ole Miss led the SEC in total offense. (506.7 yards per game) and rushing (224.3 yards per game). The Rebels finished top five in the conference in both passing and scoring as well. The Rebels led the SEC in 2020 in both total offense and rushing, while ranking top-five in all offensive categories as well.
Coach Lebby has received praise for his not just his offense, but also his development of quarterbacks. Over the past two seasons, Matt Corral has emerged not only as a Heisman candidate, but also a likely first-round NFL Draft pick. The junior was a semifinalist for the Davey O’Brien award, given to the nation’s best QB each season, and is a finalist for the Manning Award.
The Rebel Walk is hearing from sources close to the program that Lebby will coach the Rebels in the Sugar Bowl. We will keep you updated on that.
Best of luck to Coach Lebby and his family.
