Ole Miss’ Sam Williams Earns SEC Weekly Honors
OXFORD, Miss. — After his performance in the Rebels’ 31-21 Egg Bowl win over Mississippi State, Ole Miss senior Sam Williams was named SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week Monday.
This is the second time in 2021 that Williams has earned SEC Honors, receiving Co-Defensive Lineman of the Week after the Rebels’ over LSU earlier in the year.
Against Mississippi State, the Montgomery, Alabama, native notched two sacks en route to a staunch defensive performance on Thanksgiving Day. Williams and the Landsharks held MSU to the Bulldogs’ second-lowest offensive outing of the season, holding State to 420 total yards.

Williams has 12.5 sacks on the season, which ranks him fourth in the FBS.
The game against State marked the third straight contest that Williams and the Rebels’ defense has held the opposition without a first-half touchdown. It was just the second time all season that Mississippi State had been held out of the end zone during the first 30 minutes of play.
Currently, Sam has moved into third in the Ole Miss career record book (modern day) with 22.5 career sacks. He also ranks seventh all-time at Ole Miss in career TFLs with 32.5.
