Matt Corral Pens Heartfelt Message to Ole Miss Coaches, Teammates, and Fans

OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss redshirt junior quarterback Matt Corral is most certainly going to be a first-round pick in this year’s NFL Draft. He’s one of the most accomplished signal-callers in Rebel history and has his team on track to potentially finish with the most wins in school history this season.

Ahead of his final home game, Corral offered up a heartfelt message to Rebel fans and his team and coaches.

Here’s what the QB had to say:

As I think about my final game at The Vaught, I really don’t know where to start. I’ll begin with how different our coaching staff is — a good different. It’s a staff built on relationships and mentoring. We truly have a one-of-a-kind program at Ole Miss.

Coach Kiffin and Coach Lebby showed me how to be a true leader on and off the field. They prepared me to be an elite player at the position, and nothing less was acceptable. They held me to high standards, and the relationship I have with them made me not want to let them down in any way.

I appreciate Matt Holeck for griding with me and being such a big part of my support system. I know he didn’t have to do that, but he was there every step of the way.

A big thank you to Coach Love. He helped make me comfortable as a leader while staying true to myself. He helped me take over a locker room full of young men, and while it was uncomfortable at first, it became second nature. He helped instill the confidence I have as a leader, the way I move and the way I make my decisions.

I have so much appreciate for Rebel Nation. The love and support I have received from fans, faculty, administration and staff in my four years here has been remarkable, and Oxford will always be a second home to me.

I really mean it when I say this team means something to me. The other leaders and I formed a bond on this team that came together when times were tough. When nobody was clapping for us, we were the ones holding it together. The love on this team was and is unmatched. It’s something that I will forever remember. Locker rooms like this are rare.

Thank you Ole Miss, and my brothers and I look forward to finishing this journey with Rebel Pride.

Not long after Corral posted, head coach Lane Kiffin replied with his own message from the heart.

Ole Miss will take on Vanderbilt Saturday at 6:30 p.m. in Senior Day at Vaught-Hemingway. Head on over to the stadium and honor Matt Corral and his teammates with the send-off they deserve.

Hotty Toddy!
