The Rebel Walk Roundtable: Our Week 11 Picks
With the winless New Mexico State Aggies coming to town, Ole Miss gears up, while the rest of the nation watches the No. 1 LSU Tigers and No. 2 Crimson Tide in T-Town.
Our Hays Dubberly was a perfect 6-0 last week and has pulled into first place with Land Teller (who went 5-1 last week). Ross Montgomery went 5-1 last week, also, and is just one game behind first place. Jake Evans finished Week 10 4-2, while Evie Van Pelt went an abysmal 3-3. (She was the only member of the Roundtable who picked Ole Miss last week, so she remains Rebel Strong even in the face of adversity. LOL.)
Here are our standings as we head into Week 11:
Land Teller: 57-18
Hays Dubberly: 57-18
Ross Montgomery: 56-19
Jake Evans: 55-20
Evie Van Pelt: 53-22
RW Roundtable: Our Week 11 SEC Picks
3:00 P.M. – New Mexico State (0-8) vs Ole Miss (3-6)
Spread: MISS -28.5
Jake: I don’t see the Rebs winning by 4+ TDs, but I certainly think Ole Miss wins this one. Might be a record-low crowd in the Vaught with LSU/Bama on at the same time, but I still see the Rebs scraping out a couple score win over a garbage NM State team. Hopefully, we get to see Corral more.
Evie: This game might as well be a bye week…time to get some folks healthy and hopefully get the passing game clicking a little more.
Land: PLAY CORRAL.
Hays: This will not be a close game, as the Rebels roll to a smooth victory.
Ross: Ole Miss will pick up a win against a winless NM State team, while we continue to run the ball in this game when needing to establish a passing attack.
11:00 A.M. – Vanderbilt (2-6, 1-4 SEC) vs #10 Florida (7-2, 4-2 SEC)
Spread: FLA -26
Jake: Vanderbilt is just so so bad. Gators take this one with ease.
Evie: This one will likely be over by halftime.
Land: LOL.
Hays: Florida is going to roll, and Mason’s days are numbered as the Vandy coach.
Ross: This isn’t even fair. Gators roll
11:00 A.M. – Western Kentucky (5-4) vs Arkansas (2-7)
Spread: ARK -2
O/U:
Jake: Man Arkansas is terrible. But the SEC is a different level than WKU is used to. I think the Razorbacks come out hot, but fizzle out quick, losing an embarrassing one at home to the Toppers.
Evie: Arkansas is a hot mess. Remember all those folks who wanted Ole Miss to hire Chad Morris? Yeah, glad that didn’t happen. Western Kentucky.
Land: Boy this game will be hard to watch…Hogs limp by with an ugly W
Hays: Western Kentucky’s Ty Story used to play at Arkansas, and I think he’ll get revenge on the Hogs. However, I love how Morris is playing Jerry Jones’s grandson at quarterback for a last ditch effort to save his job. It won’t be enough. The Hogs lose in a close one.
Ross: This is an uninteresting, interesting game. This could be the nail in the coffin for Chad Morris if he loses this game. Give me Western Kentucky
2:30 P.M. – #1 LSU (8-0, 4-0 SEC) vs #2 Alabama (8-0, 5-0 SEC)
Spread: ALA -6.5
O/U: 64
Jake: MAN I CAN’T WAIT FOR THIS ONE! In my mind, it comes down to Burrow vs. Bama’s young defense. I think LSU’s offense is elite enough to pick apart a young and inexperienced Alabama defense. I think Tua might have some trouble in his first game back on a weak ankle, and I see LSU making his day tough. All said and done, I think we are in for a great game, that LSU pulls out late.
Evie: I think Saban lives for games like this and his Tide team will finally have a challenge. Because it’s in Tuscaloosa, I choose Saban and ‘Bama.
Land: If this game is boring, I will personally drive to Tuscaloosa and fight each and every individual on either team…I fear nothing. LSU shocks the world.
Hays: Alabama’s offense will be too much for a Tiger defense that gave up 28 on the Florida Gators. The Tide are better at quarterback, running back, and wide receivers will win in a shootout.
Ross: LET THE BAND PLAY NECK IN T-TOWN. Tigers win the biggest game of the year.
6:00 P.M. – Missouri (5-3, 2-2 SEC) vs #6 Georgia (7-1, 4-1 SEC)
Spread: UGA -17
Jake: Mizzou was good for a few weeks. Now they’re not. I see UGA rolling in this one, maybe by 17+.
Evie: Georgia all day.
Land: the ZOU is disappointing…UGA is not.
Hays: Kelly Bryant out = L on the road vs. Dawgs
Ross: Missouri is TERRIBLE on the road. Georgia wins this game with ease
6:00 P.M. – Appalachian State (7-1) vs South Carolina (4-5)
Spread: SC -5
Jake: Ooooooh. This is very intriguing. App State has dominated bad competition this year, but I think finally showed its true colors vs GA Southern last week. I think this game will be very close for a while, but Gamecocks pull away late.
Evie: This one will be closer than most might think. It’s a pick ‘em for me..but I think SC wins at home.
Land: App state can prove they are legit this week…I don’t think they will
Hays: This could be an interesting game for the Gamecocks, but I think South Carolina wins a close one at home.
Ross: Gamecocks
6:30 P.M. – Tennessee (4-5, 2-3 SEC) vs Kentucky (4-4, 2-4 SEC)
Spread: TENN -1.5
Jake: Tennessee is a different team these last few weeks. If you told me after week 3 that they would be fighting for a bowl game, I would’ve laughed. However, they’ve got new life with Jeremy Pruitt, and I see them taking this game rather decisively.
Evie: I think Kentucky wins a very close one.
Land: TENNESSEE WILL HAVE A BETTER RECORD THAN US
Hays: Tennessee needs this game to make a bowl game, and they will get the W.
Ross: Tennessee has continued to get better, and I believe they will go on the road and get a win.
