Most Impactful Rebels for 2019: No. 31 Austrian Robinson
OXFORD, Miss. — As we count down the days until the Ole Miss season opener against Memphis in the Liberty Bowl, we are releasing who we think the Top 50 Most Impactful Players will be for the Rebels this season. This series is a way for Ole Miss fans to learn more about players to keep an eye on this fall.
With 31 days before kickoff, coming in at No. 31…
Austrian Robinson
Austrian Robinson was a consensus three-star defensive lineman according to ESPN, Rivals, and 247Sports, hailing from New York, NY when he signed with Ole Miss in the class of 2015. Robinson was the No. 2-ranked player out of the Empire State. As a junior and senior at Trinity-Pawling School, he notched 65 tackles and 10 sacks before signing with the Rebels.
Robinson was redshirted during the 2015 football season. As a redshirt freshman in 2016, he played in five games and recorded four tackles and a sack. His redshirt sophomore season was Robinson’s breakout year when he registered 29 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks while appearing in ten games. Last season as a junior, Robinson appeared in 11 games and started in two of them.
During the spring, Robinson was awarded the highest honor an Ole Miss football player can achieve, the Chucky Mullins Courage Award.

“You heard the reaction of the team,” Matt Luke said after the announcement of Robinson as the winner.
“He’s got a blue-collar mentality that everybody respects with his work ethic and the way that he leads. He’s very well-respected. Maybe not flashy for people on the outside looking in, but he exemplifies the courage that I think represents what this award is about.”
Ole Miss head coach Matt Luke
Coach Luke was asked about Robinson’s performance during spring camp. “Very, very steady. Solid every down,” Luke said. “There’s a lot of people that are injured, in and out of practice. He’s battled through every bit of it and he’s played a lot of football for us. Really proud of what he’s been able to do.”
Robinson and Josiah Coatney have been named the co-starters at strong side defensive end heading into fall camp. The move to defensive coordinator Mike MacIntyre’s 3-4 scheme should allow Robinson to be a physical presence on the outside, and we fully expect him to have a very impactful senior season on the defensive line this fall.
As for Robinson, he is extremely honored to be chosen to wear the No. 38 jersey this upcoming season.
“It means everything to me, knowing everything that Chucky had going on, to be able to wear the number. I’m not from Mississippi, so I didn’t think I was going to get the award. But it’s an honor. It’s a real honor.”

Keep an eye out for No. 38 this fall!
