Most Impactful Rebels for 2019: No. 35 Jadon Jackson

OXFORD, Miss. — As we count down the days until the Ole Miss season opener against Memphis in the Liberty Bowl, we are releasing who we think the Top 50 Most Impactful Players will be for the Rebels this season. This series is a way for Ole Miss fans to learn more about players to keep an eye on this fall.

With 35 days before kickoff, coming in at No. 35…

Jadon Jackson

Jadon Jackson committed to Ole Miss in the Class of 2019 and was a four-star wide receiver according to ESPN. Ranked as the No. 2 wide receiver out of Arkansas, he was named the state’s Class 7A Player of the Year in 2017

As a senior, he caught 42 catches for 847 yards and 12 touchdowns at Bentonville West (Ark.) High School. He was also a very talented track star for the school, notching a 10.71 time in the 100-meter dash and a 22.35 mark in the 200-meter dash.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound Jackson, who chose Ole Miss over 14 other offers — including Arkansas, Auburn, MSU, Kentucky, Georgia, Tennessee, Missouri, Oklahoma State, Arizona State  — was the only freshman wide receiver to early enroll in the spring which helped him develop more timing with quarterback Matt Corral and gain some valuable experience before fall camp.

He also excelled in the classroom during his first semester in Oxford, earning a spot on the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the spring semester.

Jackson will be used in the slot with his quick speed and shiftiness, but how much so might depend on the experience in front of him. Elijah Moore is the de facto returning starter, while Tylan Knight is currently listed as the back-up behind Moore in the slot. Jackson will also be competing with Jonathan Mingo in the slot as a true freshman.

Jackson brings good size and outstanding speed to the wide receiver room. Outside of Miles Battle (6-foot-4), Jadon Jackson and Jonathan Mingo are the tallest of the Rebels’ receivers at 6-foot-2, each. Jackson has been timed at 4.44 in the 40, so he’s definitely got SEC speed. Watch out for Number 17 this fall!

Hotty Toddy!
