Elston, Nkemdiche, Treadwell named AP All-Americans
Three Ole Miss players were named to Associated Press All-America teams Sunday. Safety Trae Elston and defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche were named to the second team, while wide receiver Laquon Treadwell was on the third team.
Nkemdiche and Treadwell were also named second team All-Americans by the Walter Camp Football Foundation, as was offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil.
This is the first time in his career that Elston, a senior from Oxford, Alabama, has been named an All-American. He has started 12 games this season for the Rebels and ranks second in the Southeastern Conference with 16 passes defended and is tied for fourth with four interceptions. Showing his versatility, Elston has split time at free safety and Rover for Ole Miss this year. Two of his interceptions went for pick-sixes.
Nkemdiche, a junior from Loganville, Georgia, has helped lead the Ole Miss defense to national rankings in tackles for loss, interceptions and takeaways, with the Rebels coming in the top three in the SEC and top 22 in the nation.
Nkemdiche, who is also a Hornung Award finalist, has three offensive touchdowns in the 2015 season, along with a blocked field goal.
Treadwell, a junior from Crete, Illinois, was also one of three finalists for the Biletnikoff Award this season. He needs only three receptions to overtake Chris Collins as the all-time Ole Miss career leader in receptions and can set single-season records with two catches and 54 receiving yards. Treadwell is the leader in the SEC with 1,082 receiving yards this season, and his 76 receptions put him in second place in the conference this season.
