Six Ole Miss Rebels selected to preseason All-SEC team

Six Ole Miss Rebels represent the University of Mississippi on the 2015 All-SEC preseason team announced on Friday.

Wide receiver Laquon Treadwell, tight end Evan Engram, and offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil are on the first-team offense. Defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche was the only Rebels’ player to be selected to first-team defense. Defensive back Tony Conner, who’s projected to be a late first-round pick in next year’s NFL Draft, was a second-team selection. Sophomore defensive end Marquis Haynes was a third-team selection.

The top vote-getters on this year’s list were Georgia’s running back Nick Chubb, Florida’s Vernon Hargreaves, and Alabama’s Reggie Ragland.

The Crimson Tide had the most first-team selections this season with six. Ole Miss and Georgia were tied for the second most with four. Since 1992, the most players on the first-team were nine by Alabama in 2011, followed by eight from the Crimson Tide in 2010 and Florida (2009).

The preseason All-SEC team was voted by all media members in attendance at SEC Media Day in Hoover, Alabama. The media also predicted where teams will finish in the Southeastern Conference. Media members picked the Rebels to finish fifth in the SEC Western Division.
