Ole Miss WR Treadwell named to Walter Camp Watch List
Laquon Treadwell, Ole Miss’ 6-foot-3, 210-pound wide receiver, received great news Friday as he was placed on the 2015 Walter Camp Award preseason watch list. The award is given annually to the nation’s most outstanding collegiate football player.
The Walter Camp Award is voted upon by 128 head coaches and sports information directors. The winner will be announced on December 10, 2015 at The Home Depot College Football Awards Red Carpet show.
Just one day after some of his teammates at SEC Media Days in Hoover, Alabama mentioned he looks more explosive than ever, Treadwell finds himself on back-to-back watch lists. In addition to the Walter Camp Award, Treadwell made the Maxwell Award watch list, which is awarded to America’s College Player of the Year.
Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze expects Treadwell to be back in time for fall camp after dislocating his left ankle and fracturing his fibula in last season’s 35-31 home loss to Auburn.
Despite missing the last four games of the 2014-15 season, Treadwell’s name still appeared on Athlon Sports’ All-SEC second team.
Treadwell is entering his junior season as a Rebel and currently sits 13th in school history with 120 career receptions.
On Friday, Treadwell was also named to the 2015 Preseason Media Days All-SEC First Team.
