Prewitt garners awards after performance at A&M
Ole Miss senior safety Cody Prewitt has been named SEC Defensive Player of the Week following an outstanding performance against Texas A&M. The Bay Springs (MS) native has also been named the Defensive Back of the Week by the College Football Performance Awards.
Prewitt and the Rebels defeated the Aggies 35-20 in front of the largest crowd to ever witness a football game in the state of Texas. 110,633 fans watched as Prewitt helped the Rebel Landshark Defense shut down the Aggies. Prewitt had seven tackles in the game, and also returned an interception 75 yards for a touchdown, the first of his career.
The Rebel defense took control of the game early, holding the Aggies to zero points in the first half for the first time in Kevin Sumlin’s tenure in Aggieland. Even with a last-second touchdown that gave the Aggies 20 points in the game, the point total was the lowest for A&M this season.
Prewitt’s interception was the 11th of his career, which tied him for seventh-most in Ole Miss history. The defense has recorded three pick-sixes this season, which places it in a tie for first in the nation this season.
Congrats Cody and fellow Land Sharks !!!!
