Most Impactful Rebels for 2019: No. 41 Ryder Anderson

OXFORD, Miss. — As we count down the days until the Ole Miss season opener against Memphis in the Liberty Bowl, we are releasing who we think the Top 50 Most Impactful Players will be for the Rebels this season. This series is a way for Ole Miss fans to learn more about players to keep an eye on this fall.

With 41 days before kickoff, coming in at No. 41…

Ryder Anderson

Ryder Anderson, a 6-foot-6, 265-pound defensive end out of Katy, Texas, signed with Ole Miss in the class of 2017. Ranked the No. 25 defensive end in the country by ESPN and the state of Texas’ No. 10 DE by Scout, Anderson won a state championship his junior year, finishing a perfect 16-0 on the season.

Anderson, who played defensive end, outside linebacker and tight end in high school, is the younger brother of former Oklahoma running back and current Cincinnati Bengal Rodney Anderson and nephew of former Alabama and NFL defensive end Mark Anderson

As a true freshman at Ole Miss, Anderson appeared in ten games for the Rebels and totaled nine tackles, five quarterback hurries, and a sack on the season as a back-up at defensive end.

During his sophomore season, Anderson’s role continued as he appeared in all twelve of Ole Miss’ games along with earning two starts. He registered thirty-three tackles along with four tackles for loss last season and finished strong with a career high nine tackles against the in-state Bulldogs.

Anderson has put on thirty-five pounds since the completion of his senior season at Katy, which has helped him break through blocks by offensive tackles who might have had an easier time holding him back at his previous weight.

Heading into fall camp, Anderson and Tariqious Tisdale are both listed as starters at the weak-side defensive end spot. Anderson’s long length and quick-twitch hips are going to allow him to continue to be a presence on the edge for the Rebels this fall.

We fully expect Anderson to have a breakout year this season with the opportunity to be rotated often with Tisdale at weakside defensive end. It should be a fun season to watch the talented junior get after the quarterback on passing downs. Watch out for No. 89 coming off the edge this fall!

Hotty Toddy!
