Rebels notch season-high rebounds and assists in 71-54 win over Savannah State

The story of the game for Coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin’s team had to be the season-high rebounds and assists they notched.

The Rebels tallied an impressive 62 rebounds—the most Ole Miss has totaled in a game since November 21st, 2017. In fact, looking back at the stat sheet following the win, every single Rebel who took the court for Coach Yo was able to tally three or more rebounds in a thorough domination on both the offensive and defensive glass.

Ole Miss also recorded a season-high 21 assists in the game, with freshman guard Mimi Reid garnering eight of those.

Prior to the season, Coach Yo was adamant about the importance of building team chemistry off the court to help the cause on the court, and it appears her philosophy is taking hold.

Three Rebels scored in double figures: Jhileiya Dunlap, Shandricka Sessom, and Crystal Allen. Allen knocked down five three-pointers en route to scoring a career-high 27 points to go along with her career-high six assists. Crystal became the 30th member of the 1,000-point club for the Ole Miss women’s program on Saturday afternoon to cap off what was an incredible day for the team.

Up next:

Coach Yo and the Rebels (4-6) will return to the Pavilion Wednesday morning at 11:00 a.m. (CT) to wrap up the home stand against the (2-6) Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns.
