Week 6 SEC Picks from Southern Girl Rebel

Week 6 SEC Picks from Southern Girl Rebel

God Bless South Carolina is how I would like to start this week.

With a mediocre start to the season and torrential rains that have caused massive flooding the last few days, the last thing the Gamecocks needed was their home game against LSU to be moved to Death Valley. The good people in Baton Rouge are already welcoming South Carolina fans and wishing them the best, but an even greater gift would be for the Tigers to hold Leonard Fournette out for 4 quarters to give the struggling Gamecocks a chance for a win. Best to all involved.

I would recap last week’s Ole Miss vs Florida game, but honestly I’m still trying to find a coping mechanism that will help me move on.

But as the leaves change, so can the fate of any team in SEC Country! This week’s picks are as follows:

BEN_5215-21793897661[L]New Mexico St (0-4) at 14 Ole Miss (4-1, 2-1 SEC)
11:00 am SEC Network

Homecoming is here!! Dress up in your Sunday best and head to the Grove because Saturday is all about school spirit! Hoping the Rebels light up the score board and bring back those 70+ point victories from start of season. Hotty Toddy!
My Pick: Ole Miss

South Carolina (2-3, 0-3 SEC) at 7 LSU (4-0, 2-1 SEC)
2:30 pm ESPN

The game originally scheduled at SC is now a home game for the Tigers. Let’s hope the adversity they’ve faced this week gives them the momentum to really give LSU a fight. Loving the sportsmanship between the two schools this week. It’s what makes our country and living in the south so great!
My Pick: LSU

19 Georgia (4-1, 2-1 SEC) at Tennessee (2-3, 0-2 SEC)
2:30 pm CBS

These are two teams coming off of disappointing weeks and both are looking for a chance at redemption. Georgia blew it last week against Alabama, while Tennessee washed away another opportunity to seal a win.

Home field advantage did nothing to help Tennessee last week in its loss to Arkansas, and I don’t see it helping them any this week either.
My Pick: Georgia

Troy (1-3) at Mississippi State (3-2, 1-2 SEC)
3:00 pm SEC Network

State is a much better team than their 2 SEC losses would indicate. As we approach the halfway mark of the season, competition will intensify and the team that stays healthy will win out. It is still anyone’s game in the SEC.
My Pick: Mississippi State

Arkansas (2-3, 1-1 SEC) at 8 Alabama (4-1, 1-1 SEC)
6:00 pm ESPN

Both teams are riding a high after securing big road wins against Tennessee and Georgia, respectively. The Dynasty has never had more momentum and is ready to take on the world. Arkansas fans are equally elated and are whispering “We Want Bama” from the rooftops.

It’s hard to beat Alabama on their own turf.
My Pick: Alabama

11 Florida (5-0, 3-0 SEC) at Missouri (4-1, 1-1 SEC)
6:30 pm SEC Network

We see you over there Florida!! That dominating performance against Ole Miss left week left me speechless in the worst kind of way. But, the battle for the east is far from over. Georgia and Missouri are both staying close, and Mizzou is known for its sneak attack on unsuspecting SEC East opponents. They know how to win when it counts. I’m calling for an upset!
My Pick: Missouri
